Learning in an Instant: Winter

Chances are, your winters differ from other seasons, even if you live in a place that doesn’t get snow. And the best way to learn about winter in your area is to get outside in it! Nature walks are a great activity to do together as a family and they are rich with learning experiences. It doesn’t have to be a long walk. You could even stay in your yard!

  • Animals- Which animals are still active in winter? Can you find any signs of them? Look for tracks in the snow or mud, squirrel nests in bare trees, feathers, and even the animals themselves!
  • Plants- Does the plant life look different from other times of the year? Is there more or less?
