We here at Inner Child Learning consider ourselves play advocates and fully support learning through play. So it’s no surprise that we also love and support the Playful Learning Ecademy. My family is continuously inspired to focus on playful learning through the amazing eLessons offered. There is truly something for everyone.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Playful Learning Spaces eLesson and I look forward to sharing more about that soon. There are also several eLessons specifically designed for kids as well. My son and I enjoyed the Starting a Writers Notebook eLesson. He was happily engaged while watching the videos made just for him, featuring kids just like him. It has been so wonderful to see him so empowered.

1. What is the story behind Playful Learning Ecademy? 

When I was teaching in the classroom, the question I was asked most by parents was, “How can I support my child’s education at home?” Playful Learning Ecademy was created to provide families with a simple and meaningful way to enrich their children’s education while spending quality time together. We are continually creating eLessons for children and their grown-ups, on a variety of topics, that tap into their passions, fuel their curiosity, and nurture lifelong habits of heart and mind—all from the comfort of their own home.
 
A little over two years ago, I introduced the Playful Learning Spaces eCourse and was truly amazed by the online community that was created through the course. Mothers, teachers, and caregivers from all over the world came together with the shared purpose of creating engaging spaces for the children in their lives. Together we shared information, worked on projects, and offered each other feedback, support, and encouragement along the way. 
 
While Playful Learning Spaces is geared towards parents and teachers, I received many requests to create online workshops for children. So I began transforming my favorite classroom lessons into online learning experiences and it has been an extraordinary journey.  Our eLessons bring together children and families from all over the world to interact, create, and learn together in a safe and protected online environment. 
 
Throughout this process I have become deeply inspired by the potential of online learning. I believe that we are on the brink of an educational revolution and the potential is astounding. Now more than ever it is critical that we help children to channel their natural attraction to technology in a positive direction. Playful Learning Ecademy offers a wonderful opportunity for parents and teachers to join in on the process and to connect with their children or students in new and exciting ways.
 

2. Is there any course in particular that you consider a good starting point?
 
That is a hard question, because all of our eLessons offer such unique content and teach important universal lessons… Starting a Writer’s Notebook empowers children to find their voices and develop a love of writing, and Be a Peacemaker helps children to find peace within when the world gets challenging.

Yes! Playful Learning Ecademy will release two new eLessons every month on a variety of engaging and important topics. 
 
In August we will launch Backyard Science Investigations and Colors of the Rainbow: Healthy Cooking and Eating. Over the next year we are working towards offering online lessons for children that teach reading, writing, math, science, technology, well being, art, geography, and more.
